Music

At the heart of Little Lapin Music lies a commitment to honest songwriting and melodies that linger long after the final note fades. Our music draws from the rich traditions of alternative country, folk and indie, blending heartfelt lyrics with earworm hooks that capture the complexity of contemporary life whilst maintaining a warmth and accessibility that connects with listeners worldwide.

Whether you're discovering us for the first time or you've been with us since the beginning, we invite you to dive into the albums, explore the songs and find the moments that resonate with your own story.

The Albums

Our debut album Remember The Highs, released in May 2015, introduced audiences to Little Lapin's distinctive voice and sophisticated songwriting. The nine-track collection captured the attention of music blogs, magazines and radio DJs across the UK and beyond, with Unsigned and Independent Music Magazine naming it Best International Album of 2015. The title track and opening song featured on BBC 6 Music, reaching listeners through Tom Robinson's BBC Introducing and Steve Lamacq's 6 Music Recommends. It was an album born from a desire to create something genuine, something that spoke to the highs and lows of navigating modern life with both sass and sincerity.

Our highly anticipated sophomore album Holding Out For The Kicks arrived on 16th July 2016. Recorded in London, this nine-track collection showcased a matured sound and an even sharper focus on conscientious songwriting. The album explores themes of longing, restlessness and the search for meaning in an increasingly complex world, all delivered with that signature blend of warmth and understated cynicism that defines our approach. From the breezy alt-country of Californian Sun to the evocative storytelling of Narrabeen and the energy of Started Something, the album demonstrates our ability to combine heartfelt introspection with melodies that get under your skin and refuse to leave.

The Songs That Define Us

Californian Sun was the first single from Holding Out For The Kicks, released in April 2016. Independent Clauses declared it "breezy alt-country at its finest," and the track garnered significant support from music blogs and radio alike. With spins on BBC 6 Music courtesy of Steve Lamacq and Gideon Coe, as well as Amazing Radio, Californian Sun became a calling card for our ability to craft songs that feel both timeless and immediate. It's a track about escape, about the pull of distant horizons and the dreams we carry with us even when we're standing still.

Narrabeen captured hearts and airwaves with its stunning, evocative narrative. BBC Introducing Cornwall championed the track, praising the voice as "so full of warmth and sass and that little endearing touch of cynicism." The single subsequently caught the attention of BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris, who featured it on his Sunday show. Narrabeen is a masterclass in storytelling, transporting listeners to a specific place and moment whilst exploring universal themes of memory, connection and the passing of time.

Started Something showcases the more spirited side of our songwriting, a track that balances introspection with an irresistible forward momentum. It's a song about beginnings, about the thrill and uncertainty of setting something in motion and watching it unfold in ways you never quite expected.

Our Approach To Songwriting

Songwriting, for us, is about shedding light on contemporary culture without losing sight of the human heart at its centre. We're drawn to stories that capture the contradictions of modern life—the longing for simplicity in a complicated world, the search for authenticity in an age of surface, the small moments of connection that sustain us through the noise. Our songs aim to be both mirrors and companions, reflecting experiences back to listeners whilst offering comfort, understanding and perhaps a little knowing humour along the way.

The lyrics matter deeply. We craft each line with care, seeking out the specific details and images that bring a song to life. But we never forget that a song must also move you, must invite you in with melody and rhythm and the kind of hook that stays with you long after the music stops. That balance—between thoughtful lyricism and irresistible melody—is what we're always chasing.

How To Listen

Our music is available across all major streaming platforms, and we're proud to offer physical and digital albums through Bandcamp, where you can explore the full catalogue and support independent music directly. Whether you're the kind of listener who puts on an album from start to finish, letting the arc of the songs guide you through a journey, or someone who discovers us one track at a time through playlists and radio, there's a place for you here.

We recommend listening in these ways:

  • Put on Remember The Highs from the beginning and let it play through—it's an album designed to be experienced as a whole, with each track building on the one before.
  • Start with Californian Sun if you're new to our sound—it's an accessible entry point that captures the essence of what we do.
  • Dive into Narrabeen when you're ready for something more introspective, a song that rewards close listening and reveals new layers with each play.
  • Explore Holding Out For The Kicks when you want to hear how our songwriting evolved, how we refined our approach whilst staying true to the core of what makes Little Lapin Music distinctive.
